(SHADERS)

There are particular paints that you might find that might help you in giving your minis more realism. Those are the paints that are called shaders. These are basically what they say they are, they are applied on to your mini and add a shade effect to them when applied. Or in the community they are called washes.

They are specifically designed in order to help you in painting much more easily. As you don’t have to manually add shadows into the nooks and crannies of your mini.

Before applying however, make sure to shake the canister thoroughly as these require a lot of mixing inside in order for the product to work. So make sure to shake it for at least half a minute to two minutes.

After you’re done shaking, you can now use it for your mini. Make sure not to apply too much on your brush as it will stain pretty easily on your mini. Add a couple dabs on a particular piece of the mini that you want to have shading on and you should be done afterwards.

  • Tip: If you want to step up your knowledge of color theory. Try this tip for your mini. There are different kinds of shaders that have different color variations. If your miniature is covered in mostly orange hues, then use a shader for that particular color like brown. The same thing applies for different colors of your miniature. If you want to take it a step further, try applying a complimentary colored shader instead. For example: If your mini is covered in red mostly, try adding a blue shader instead of just regular black or red.

After this, you may proceed to the next lesson!
