For this lesson we are going to talk about top coating and what it is for.

Top coating is essentially the final step of the miniature painting process where you add a particular kind of paint called top coat paints. These are essentially going to help you prevent any damages or scratches from getting onto your miniatures once they are finished painted. It will also help with preventing any dirt or muck from messing with your colors. 

However, depending on the type of top coat you are using it will affect the colors of your minis as well. Their particular top coats are flat or glossy that will essentially have an effect on the colors of your minis. For example, flat top coats will basically make your colors look more flat. And that will also make any parts of your mini look more natural looking. Which is what I mainly use when I am top coating my minis.

• Do note that flat top coats will also affect the shinier parts of your minis if you ever applied any to your mini. So you might have to reapply some of them afterwards.
